Project Equilink

Our name, EquiLink, shows that we want things to be fair (equity) and connected (link). We believe in creating links between people, making sure everyone, especially survivors of violence, are treated fairly, and working towards positive changes in our community. The program's emphasis on understanding gaps in current systems for survivors' recovery and reparation aligns with the idea of promoting equity in support services. The comprehensive approach of the project, involving research on community involvement in perpetuating violence, corresponds with the idea of "Link" in "EquiLink," suggesting a focus on interconnectedness and systemic change. The program’s intention to use research findings for policy change, legislative change, and systems change resonates with the concept of "EquiLink" by indicating a transformative approach to justice. It includes two projects to achieve this goal: the Courage Circles Project and the Accountability Atlas Project.

Courage Circles

In these support groups, survivors can talk about their experiences, how they're
getting better, and the hard parts of trying to get justice. In these groups, survivors can talk about what happened to them, how they are feeling, and the things helping them feel stronger. It's a place where everyone listens and supports each other. Survivors can also share what "justice" means to them—making things fair and right. We want to understand how everyone can
be treated better. The stories shared in the groups will help Imaara spearhead changes in the rules and laws in India to make things better for survivors and society. All information will remain anonymous and will only be used with permission from survivors. Privacy and permission are paramount to us.

Accountability Atlas

The goal is to explore ways [via research] to create improved
systems that promote reform within both the community and individuals responsible for perpetrating SGBV, fostering a sense of accountability amongst everyone. This project will delve into the dynamics of how the community, as a whole, contributes to acts of violence. This involves examining the various factors and interactions that play a role in such incidents. This project is committed to establishing better systems that encourage positive change within the community. This includes exploring avenues for reform that go beyond individual actions to address the broader issues contributing to violence. Understanding the responsibility of individuals involved in acts of violence is crucial. We aim to identify ways to hold perpetrators accountable and encourage their transformation towards non-violent behaviors. By studying these aspects, we hope to contribute valuable insights that can lead to the development of effective strategies and systems to prevent violence and foster a community that is accountable, supportive, and dedicated to positive change.
